Scenery

Modelling a real place has advantages, but also has the challenge of making the layout a convincing representation of the real world, especially when the prototype no longer exists and can only be viewed in old photographs.  So in these shots, I've also shown a real-world photo where I could find one.

Inevitably, I've had to make a few compromises to fit the available space.  The carriage sidings, goods yard and bay platform each contain one fewer road than they should have, and Simister's garage had to move a few yards along Station Street to be included.  The turntable is an off-the-shelf model from Peco which is a scale 70' diameter; being larger than the 45' turntable that was actually present forces some deviation in the adjacent tracks, although it does give me the advantage of being able to turn larger visiting locos.
