Posting pictures of progress as I built my Hibel Road layout has led to more information about the site coming my way. I am grateful to those who shared their memories of Hibel Road through FB, and I've been able to include some of these in cameos below.
The small boy trainspotting on the bank above the Down line identified himself in a 1959 photo of the station south end, and the son/nephew of the Smith Bros placed the newsagent next to the Plough Inn. Both are now commemorated on the layout. (However, the peeping tom window cleaner is most definitely NOT based on any stories related through FB!)
The layout will be on show at the Macclesfield Model Railway Group exhibition in Tytherington School on April 20-21.
