Visit of Princess Elizabeth, 27 June 1949

I had a fantastic weekend at the Macclesfield MRG show this weekend, thanks to the many people who came to share their personal memories of Macclesfield with me.

I must especially thank Mike Clark who told me about the day his sister Shirley Hankinson (then at Parkroyal school) presented a bouquet to Princess Elizabeth at the entrance to Hibel Road station when she (the Princess that is) visited Macclesfield. He then returned to the show a little later with the programme and photos from the day, which I reproduce here with his permission.
