I found a photo of ex-GCR N5 9333 beside Macc Central signal box dated 1948. The loco would have run along the Bollington line from Central station but been serviced at Hibel Road as the LNER shed burnt down before the war. So I wanted one for the non-running sidings.
A Shredded Wheat loco (non-running Farish GP tank) provided the body, with wheels from a Farish C class and a Dapol 2MT pony truck. The bunker was lengthened, front splasher moved, new chimney, dome and smokebox door, handrails and coal rails. Cab was remodelled, although it still doesn't quite look right. It's still unmotorised, but as a condemned loco will help fill an awkward space.
Photos 9333 (Macc Central signal box 1948) R Dyer; poor image so used E9343 (Trafford Park, March 1948) ex GCRS Collection for reference.
